What I Do

I am a Philadelphia native with a long history reporting on issues that impact Philadelphia’s diverse communities.

My Background

I’m a Philadelphia native and have lived in the same neighborhood in which I was raised. Prior to joining the Philadelphia Inquirer, I was a freelance writer, most lately with Generocity and Philadelphia Magazine but also a staff writer the Philadelphia Tribune and an editor of The New Observer. Throughout my career, my work has focused on community issues such as health care, policing, and community economic development. I am a graduate of Philadelphia public schools. I hold a BA from the University of Pa and have a MPH from Drexel University. In addition to my work as a reporter, I have also taught adult literacy classes and prepared students to earn a high school credential. When I’m not writing, I’m reading (mostly nonfiction) or urging vegetables to grow in my small garden.
