What I Do

I edit the UpSide, covering good news and the best in us. I also write and speak about the benefits of using positive psychology to shape our stories.

My Background

Ronnie Polaneczky, a journalist for 30 years, is editor of the UpSide, the Inquirer's weekly good news/good stories section, which celebrates the best of us - and the best in us - via tales of kindness, hope, inspiration and common goodness. Prior to creating The UpSide, Ronnie was a metro columnist with the Philadelphia Daily News and Inquirer, winning numerous journalism awards for listening to the city she loves and telling its stories in ways that get to the heart of who we are. She was the 2015 winner of the Eugene C. Pulliam Journalism Fellowship for her coverage of elderly parents who are still responsible for the care of their intellectually disabled, aging children. You can watch her TEDxPhiladelphia Talk, "The Power of Deliberate Listening," at: https://youtu.be/A343tlP5iUA
