Eagles news: Dallas Goedert knee injury not season-ending; updated playoff scenarios; ex-Birds QB to call next game
The Eagles improved to 10-2 and remain a game behind the Detroit Lions in the race for the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed.

The Eagles (10-2) defeated the Baltimore Ravens (8-5) Sunday 24-19, increasing their winning streak to eight games. Here are some takeaways from the victory.
The Eagles will host the Carolina Panthers (3-9) in Week 14 Sunday at the Linc, with Saquon Barkey still on pace to set a new NFL rushing record.

Eagles grades: Offensive line comes up big, while the entire defense wore down the Ravens. There was also Cooper DeJean's monster hit.
Head coach Nick Sirianni deserves credit for the Eagles’ physicality. He may also deserve a contract extension.

NFC East standings: Eagles magic number is two
Despite the Commanders blowing out the Tennessee Titans (3-9) on Sunday, the Eagles remain 2.5 games ahead of Washington in the NFC East with just five weeks to go this season.
If the Eagles win their next two games against the Carolina Panthers (3-9) and Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3), they’ll clinch the NFC East and a spot in the playoffs, regardless of the outcome of their Dec. 22 game against the Commanders in Week 16.

Dallas Goedert will miss time, but knee injury not season-ending
During his weekly Monday press conference, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said he was still in "the gathering phase" when it came to diagnosing the knee injury Dallas Goedert suffered in Sunday's win over the Ravens.
According to The Inquirer's Jeff McLane, the news isn't great — he's going to miss time — but it's also not nearly as bad as it could've been, especially for a team that hopes to be playing deep into January and beyond.
Goedert is out on a week-to-week basis, according to McLane, meaning he'll be reevaluated each week rather than having a specific timetable attached to his return. However, he does remain a candidate for short-term injured reserve, which would sideline him for a minimum of four weeks.

Saquon Barkley is third in NFL in Pro Bowl voting
Saquon Barkley and the Eagles may have gotten the better of the Ravens on Sunday, but according to numbers released on Monday afternoon by the NFL, the Baltimore's star duo of quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry are the top two vote-getters respectively for the 2025 Pro Bowl.
But Barkley, currently the league leader in rushing yards and on pace to break Eric Dickerson's single-season NFL record, is only a little more than 100 votes behind Henry. Bills quarterback Josh Allen (36,574) and Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (35,637) are the other two players to crack the Top 5.

Former Eagles quarterback will be calling Birds' next game
The Eagles will host the Carolina Panthers (3-9) Sunday at the Linc, and a former Birds’ quarterback will be in the booth calling the game.
Mark Sanchez, who spent two of his eight NFL seasons in Philly, will be calling the game on Fox alongside play-by-play announcer Adam Amin. Kristina Pink will report from the sidelines.
It's the second time this season Sanchez will call his former team. He was in the booth during the Eagles' lopsided win over the New York Giants in Week 7
Eagles up-down drill: Cooper DeJean, Avonte Maddox, Mann
Up: Cooper DeJean. The Eagles’ rookie slot cornerback is listed at 6 feet, 198 pounds. Ravens star running back Derrick Henry is 6-2, 247. Those numbers defy the fact that DeJean made the signature play of Sunday evening, decleating Henry after the back caught an underneath pass with the Ravens facing third-and-11 in the fourth quarter. DeJean conceded even he didn’t expect to lift Henry off the ground and said he felt Henry’s strength even when delivering the hit rather than receiving it. Still, the moment was emblematic of the elite play the Eagles have gotten from the second-round pick this season.
Down: Avonte Maddox. Speaking of DeJean, the player he replaced as the starting slot cornerback might be staring down another demotion before too long. Maddox struggled as the dime defensive back once again on Sunday, getting charged for a defensive holding early in the game that negated a sack by Josh Sweat. The Eagles have enough young defensive backs to try someone else in sub packages, especially given how Maddox has played.
Up: Braden Mann. The Eagles’ multiyear search for a punter has settled on Mann, who played a vital role in the win with two punts inside the 5, one of which landed at Baltimore’s 1-yard line. Sirianni and Baun mentioned how Mann’s punts were game-changing in the field-position battle. For as well as the defense played, the precision from Mann and the gunner pair of Sydney Brown and Kelee Ringo are deserving of some credit for the score line as well, especially considering the Ravens gained 372 yards but scored just 19 points.

Eagles stats: Jalen Carter’s dominance
Jalen Carter keeps making it harder and harder to take him off the field.
Carter nearly played the entire game again Sunday, two weeks after doing so vs. Washington. Carter played 71 of the 72 defensive snaps (98.6%) against the Ravens, his lone break coming on the final defensive play of the game.
Carter faced double teams on 25 of his 43 pass rushes, according to Next Gen Stats. He still made an impact. His sack of Lamar Jackson gave him 4½ for the season and was one of three tackles Carter made for a loss.
Update on Dallas Goedert's knee injury
Nick Sirianni may deserve a contract extension
Nick Sirianni is maturing. And while it may seem odd to write that about a 43-year-old man at the height of his profession, it’s not as weird as hearing his 26-year-old quarterback say essentially the same thing.
“He’s been growing. I think that’s the biggest thing,” Jalen Hurts said. “And everyone has to be able to evolve as the season goes on. And I think he’s been able to evolve in the betterment of helping the team.”
Sirianni has been at the controls for everything the Eagles have done since the bye. He took the advice of his offensive linemen and shifted the offense to a run-oriented system that emphasized Saquon Barkley and his blockers. He gave Vic Fangio the freedom to alter his personnel even if it might come at the expense of high-priced pieces.
Saquon Barkley still on pace to break 40-year-old NFL rushing record
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley remains on pace to set a new NFL rushing record after yet another 100-yard performance against the Baltimore Ravens.
Barkley put up 107 yards rushing Sunday, increasing his season total to 1,499 yards on the ground. He is averaging just a hair under 125 rushing yards per game, a pace that would put him at around 2,124 rushing yards for the season, topping Eric Dickerson’s record of 2,105 yards set in 1984.
The MVP candidate could also set a new NFL record for scrimmage yards in a season, though he’ll have to pick up the pace after posting just 10 receiving yards Sunday night. He’s at 1,766 total yards (rushing and passing) through 12 games. With five more games to play, if he continues at this same pace (about 147 yards per game), he’ll finish with 2,501 yards, just a shade below Chris Johnson’s record of 2,509 in 2009.
Everyone's still talking about Cooper DeJean's big hit
One of the highlights of the Eagles' win over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday was rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean's monster hit on Derrick Henry during the fourth quarter.
“Cooper DeJean comes up, wraps him up, lifts him up, and puts him on his back,” Eagles radio announcer Mike Quick said during the broadcast. “You rarely see that!”
"A friendly reminder that Derrick Henry has about a 50 pound advantage on Cooper DeJean," wrote my colleague Olivia Reiner.
Eagles injury report
The Eagles lost their second member of the secondary to a concussion in as many weeks, with safety Reed Blankenship leaving late in the third quarter.
Tristin McCollum replaced Blankenship at safety opposite C.J. Gardner-Johnson, working behind a cornerback pairing that already featured Isaiah Rodgers in place of Darius Slay, who is in the concussion protocol after leaving last Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Tight end Dallas Goedert also left with a knee injury and didn’t return to the game. The Eagles listed him as questionable late in the fourth quarter. Quinyon Mitchell also had an injury scare, but returned after missing a few plays midway through the third quarter.
