Taylor Swift used to be an Eagles fan. Here’s what we know.

Taylor Swift is now the world’s most famous Chiefs fan, thanks to her high-profile relationship with tight end Travis Kelce.

But before she became a staple at Arrowhead Stadium, Swift was a Birds fan from Berks County.

Swift and Kelce’s story began in 2023 after Kelce attended her Eras Tour show at Arrowhead Stadium, armed with a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it — that he didn’t get to give her because “she doesn’t meet people before or after her shows.” There’s photo evidence of her meeting Aaron Rodgers after one of her shows at MetLife Stadium, so that’s not quite true. And on New Heights, Jason Kelce speculated Swift rebuffed him because the Chiefs had just beaten the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

”She probably just hasn’t gotten over the Super Bowl yet,” Jason said. “She’s a big Eagles fan.”

Despite her fandom, the relationship continued to grow with surprise appearances at Chiefs games, Kelce family vacations, and even Travis appearing on stage at one of her shows. But at some point, that fandom changed.

At an earlier tour stop at Lincoln Financial Field, Swift confirmed she was a Birds fan and had included a reference to the team in her song “Gold Rush” — “Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door.”

“There was sort of a — I don’t know how large the debate was — the debate about I have a lyric that says, ‘my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door,’” Swift said of the song while performing the Eras Tour at Lincoln Financial Field. “I saw some people wondering if it was the band, the Eagles, or the team, the Eagles. Guys, come on. I’m from Philly, of course it’s the team.”

She was spotted entering her New York recording studio, Electric Lady Studios, in an Eagles crew neck in 2023, so the Birds fandom is recent. At least until her relationship with Kelce began later that year.

Swift also met Andy Reid years prior, when he was still with the Eagles.

“Yeah, listen, she’s been great. I knew her before, from Philadelphia. Her dad played at [the University of] Delaware and was a big football fan and good guy,” Reid said on the Let’s Go podcast in 2024. “So I had met him there and her. … That was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew her before him. She told him, ‘I know your coach.’ And he went, ‘Oh, God, come on!’”

Scott Swift, Swift’s father, is also historically an Eagles fan. But since Swift and Kelce began their relationship, he’s been spotted in Chiefs gear a number of times, including in a box at Arrowhead and on the Eras Tour — but he was spotted in an Eagles lanyard at Super Bowl VIII.

We all know what squad Swift will be supporting come game day — especially if she wants to avoid any bad blood — but we’ll always have the memories.
