“Whether you are aware of it or not, you have walked into my hometown show,” the singer said.

The Taylor Swift takeover of South Philadelphia began at 8 p.m. sharp on Friday night as the Wyomissing, Pa.-raised pop star made a grand entrance — in person and on a video screen as wide as a football field — to kick off the first of three consecutive weekend shows at Lincoln Financial Field.

She made her entrance after a clock ticked down to zero as Lesley Gore’s proto-feminist anthem “You Don’t Own Me” played. Swift opened with the one-two punch of “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” and “Cruel Summer,” both from her 2019 album Lover, which was the chapter presented in the career-spanning Eras Tour.

After two more Lover songs, she stopped to address the crowd of screaming-with-delight ecstatic Swifties who have been waiting five years for her to return to the Linc.

“Whether you are aware of it or not, you have walked into my hometown show,” she said. She added that after spending her “whole childhood watching with your Dad, watching Eagles games on Sunday,” even in her “most outrageous dreams,” she never imagined she’d be playing a sold-out show in the football team’s stadium.

She went on to thank opening acts Gayle and Phoebe Bridgers, whose band included Matty Healy, the lead singer of the British band The 1975 that Swift is rumored to be dating. Both of those artists will also play Saturday night, and Gracie Adams replaces Gayle on Sunday.

Here’s the list of the 45 songs Swift played in her 3-hour-15-minute show. Scroll down to Nos. 37 and 38 to see the surprise songs, including the one with the lyric (you thought was) about an Eagles T-shirt. It’s not!
