Adding to the region’s evolving dining scene, a new cheesesteak shop opened yesterday, and the long-awaited Main Line eatery from the owners of White Dog Cafe has officially opened. Also, a local boys soccer team took home the club’s first national championship last week, and we bring you the latest on the trial of two men accused of breaking into a Wynnewood home last year, killing a man and paralyzing his mother.

A new cheesesteak shop with a Rocky-inspired name opened its doors in Ardmore Park yesterday.
Located at 2528 Haverford Rd., this shop is the second for Gazzos Steaks, which has its original location in Pottstown.
The eatery is known for its cheesesteaks featuring rough chops of rib-eye served with a melted layer of Cooper Sharp. For now, this location will serve just cheesesteaks and fries, with a goal of expanding to include menu items such as a cutlet and roast pork-inspired sandwich.
The owners also plan to open a joint bakery with AJ Bread & Bakery to make their own rolls.

The Lower Merion Soccer Club U19 boys’ team took home the club’s first national title last week, defeating the Spartans FC Havasu, 1-0, in Tampa, Fla.
It was a sweet victory for its coaches and team members, many of whom have played together since they were just 8 or 9 years old.

In case you missed it, last week, Lower Merion’s Board of Commissioners approved the use of red light enforcement cameras. The first two cameras will be installed at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and Remington Road as part of a pilot program to test their effectiveness.
The trial began Monday for two men accused of breaking into a Wynnewood home in December, shooting and paralyzing homeowner Bernadette Gaudio, and killing her son Andrew. Bernadette testified in court Tuesday about what she experienced. The defendants, Charles Fulforth and Kelvin Roberts, are facing charges of murder, burglary, and related crimes but both have denied pulling the trigger. The trial is expected to conclude tomorrow.
Two former Lower Merion Township district court clerks, Lisa Shopa and Patricia Althouse, pleaded guilty last week to theft-related charges for stealing nearly $7,500 in fines paid by drivers for speeding tickets, parking violations, and other issues. They will serve a combination of jail time and house arrest, in addition to subsequent probation. (Main Line Times)
An accomplished illustrator and photographer has transformed the walls of his Bryn Mawr apartment into a colorful display of both modern and vintage illustrations, photos, and drawings, including one item that dates back 400 years. We take a peek inside.
The performing arts community will come together in Bryn Mawr next week for a milestone celebration of voice coach Paul Spencer Adkins. Over his 50-year career, the Wynnewood resident has coached over 8,000 students, including area native Amanda Jane Cooper, who played Glinda in Wicked on Broadway and national tours, and Benj Pasek, who co-authored Broadway show Dear Evan Hansen and the film La La Land.
Before he became Superman, David Corenswet was “just David,” a former local peer recalled. Growing up in Philadelphia and later Merion Park, the Shipley School alum is fondly remembered by his former teachers and fellow actors.
Earlier this month, Narberth Havurah named Shane Rubin its new president. The organization operates as more of a lay-led Jewish community than a traditional synagogue. Rubin recently shared some of his goals in the new role with the Philadelphia Jewish Exponent.
The Kaiserman JCC is collecting unopened nonperishable food, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products for the Ardmore Food Pantry. There’s a collection bin in the lobby through the end of the month.

The owners of White Dog Cafe have debuted their long-awaited latest concept on the Main Line. Triple Crown at the Radnor Hotel launches dinner service tonight and happy hour starting Monday. The Inquirer’s Michael Klein got an early look at the equestrian-inspired restaurant.
Healthy fast-casual eatery Dig Inn will open its first suburban Philadelphia location on Aug. 5, the company announced this week. Before its grand opening, the new location at Suburban Square will host a food drive benefiting Ardmore Food Pantry on Aug. 3 from 11 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Diners who bring nonperishable foods can get a complimentary Dig Inn plate, but advanced registration is required. On its opening day, Dig Inn plans to donate all proceeds to the pantry.

Built in 1910, this Tudor known as “Kelty” was designed by the renowned local architect William Lightfoot Price. Spanning over 8,000 square feet, the Merion Station home has seven bedrooms and seven full bathrooms.
