Philadelphia officials are preparing for thousands of Eagles fans to flood the city after Super Bowl LIX on Sunday — whether to celebrate a win or process a loss.

On Thursday, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and city officials, including Police Commissioner Kevin J. Bethel, the Office of Emergency Management, and SEPTA, outlined their public safety plans.

The Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, with large crowds expected to gather in Center City, South Philadelphia, and Northeast Philadelphia. Bethel said officers will be out “in full force” across the city to manage the celebrations.

“We urge all fans to gather responsibly so we can show the nation what Philly is truly about. Let’s come together, cheer loudly, and take pride in representing our great city with passion and respect,” he said, finishing with a “Go Birds.”

If you’re trying to avoid the crowds, it’s best to steer clear of South Broad Street near City Hall and the intersection of Cottman and Frankford Avenues in Northeast Philadelphia.

Here’s what you need to know about road closures, parking restrictions, and SEPTA detours.

Which roads will be closed?

Philadelphia police will close roads as needed based on crowd size, but some areas will likely be blocked off early in the day.

  1. South Broad Street (Lombard to Chestnut, including side streets) will close to traffic Sunday morning and could remain blocked off well into the night.

  2. Depending on the size of celebrations, police may also close streets between 12th and 16th Streets and as far north as Spring Garden Street.

  3. I-676 ramps leading to Broad Street could also be shut down.

Parking restrictions in Philly for Super Bowl Sunday

On Thursday, “Temporary No Parking” signs were placed along South Broad Street leading up to and around City Hall in Center City.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, parking restrictions go into effect, and any vehicles left in restricted zones will be relocated. Here’s what to know about courtesy tows.

Additional parking restrictions will be in place on side streets of South Broad Street from Lombard to Chestnut Street on Sunday.

Northeast Philadelphia and South Philadelphia will have similar parking restrictions around Cottman and Frankford Avenues and South Broad Street on Sunday.

SEPTA and public transportation changes for Super Bowl Sunday

With thousands expected to crowd the streets, SEPTA will reroute several bus lines and close key transit stations Sunday night. While specific bus detours have not been announced, major service changes are expected on the Market-Frankford Line, the Broad Street Line, and Regional Rail.

However, these stations will be closed Sunday evening:

  1. Market-Frankford Line: 15th Street, City Hall, 13th Street, and 11th Street Stations.

  2. Broad Street Line: Walnut-Locust, City Hall, and Race-Vine Stations.

  3. Regional Rail: Suburban Station and Jefferson Station.
