Early look: Tio Flores at 16th and South

The 50-seat Mexican cantina occupies a new space that had been earmarked for New York's Calexico before that project ran out of juice.

Chris Fetfatzes and Heather Annechiarico expect to open the doors of their third restaurant - Tio Flores, at 16th and South Streets - on Nov. 18.

Here's an early look inside at the 50-seat Mexican cantina, which occupies a new space that had been earmarked for New York's Calexico before that project ran out of juice.

While Calexico was intended as a bar/takeout, Tio Flores will be a sit-downer. It's less than a block west of their South Street bar, The Cambridge, and six blocks from Hawthornes, their restaurant/beer emporium.

And though the other restaurants pride themselves on their beer list, Tio Flores will have eight on tap (serving in frosted mugs), plus two wines and two margaritas. Place has a killer sound system and plenty of flowering mini-cacti on the tables. (Tio Flores = "uncle flowers.")

The Fetfatzeses don't yet have a menu to share.

It will be open initially nightly from dinnertime through 2 a.m., and delivery of tacos and six-packs will be handled via QuickSipDelivery.com.
