Royal wedding fashion: Meghan Markle sparkles in Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy | Elizabeth Wellington

A few minutes before noon Saturday in London, Meghan Markle arrived at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle in a stunning white gown by designer Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy to marry Prince Harry.

The plain sheath, featuring three-quarter-length sleeves and a demure bateau neckline, was simply beautiful in its elegant simplicity. The Cathedral-style veil featured soft lace edging that added a certain Hollywood drama and maintained the conservative feel of the wedding. Fifty-three flowers that represent the nations of the British Commonwealth were embroidered on the bride's veil. Markle followed family protocol with her tiara, which came from the queen's jewelry vault, and the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau.  Markle's hair was pulled back in a low chignon and her cheeks were a rosy glow.

Prince Harry arrived all smiles and with beard intact wearing the frock coat uniform of the Blues and Royals, reflecting his Army service.

There has been lots of speculation as to what designer Markle would choose for the royal occasion, with vegan designer Stella McCartney at the top of the list.

Keller, 47, is a British-born designer who assumed her role as the artistic director of haute couture and ready-to-wear for women and men at Givenchy last year. She is the first woman to hold that job. Her selection by Markle a coincidence? We think not.

Kate Middleton, Markle's sister-in-law and one of the couple's most enthusiastic advocates, wore a delightful lemon-yellow suit from the British design house Alexander McQueen, currently under the direction of Sarah Burton.

This outfit was sharp. And the entire getup is my top contender for best look with fascinator. But I'm not surprised because the Duchess of Cambridge never disappoints.

Queen Elizabeth arrived at the wedding in a floral dress, its background matching her lime-colored silk tweed coat, both by British designer Stewart Parvin. It was a solid spring choice that didn't overshadow the bride.

Adding to the day's excitement for wedding watchers were a number of celebrities who arrived in bold jewel-toned ensembles fashioned into structured midi-length silhouettes that generally erred on the side of conservative.

Amal Clooney was among the first to arrive in this most amazing sunshine-yellow Stella McCartney midi-sheath.  Who knew such wedding-guest gown perfection was possible?

Victoria Beckham wore a navy blue, slash-front midi dress with split sleeves from her eponymous 2019 collection. On her head was a Stephen Jones tulle pillbox hat. Beckham, who arrived with her hunky hubby, David,  indeed looked fab, but Beckham's resting bitch face garnered more headlines than her exquisite ensemble.

Serena Williams wowed in her body-skimming Versace. One of Markle's besties, she was confident, cool, and beyond pretty in pink.

Markle's former Suits costars Priyanka Chopra and Abigail Spencer were chic in Vivienne Westwood and Alessandra Rich, respectively. Lavender is definitely Chopra's shade and one can never go wrong with polka dots in the springtime.

And my best friend in my head, Oprah Winfrey, was perfectly church lady chic in a blush — also known as millennial pink — dress with lace trim. Her hat was none other than vintage Philip Treacy. Picture-perfect wedding attire.
