AW, THERE'S A REASON - despite the blockbusters and critical acclaim - that he'll always be "Rydal's own Bradley Cooper" to me.

Cooper was in town this weekend to celebrate his 20-year high-school reunion with ol' chums at Germantown Academy. On Friday, he walked around the campus and caught up with old teachers, then headed to the reunion at MaGerks in Fort Washington (582 S. Bethlehem Pike).

Cooper then stopped by the GA-Penn Charter football game, where Germantown Academy's Patriots triumphed, 42-35, ending a long losing streak against Penn Charter's Quakers. Despite the sheen of celebrity, I suspect Cooper's presence had little to do with the victory, although I did hear he was gracious to the students who came up to chat with him.

Cooper isn't the only alum of note from the GA Class of '93. Also in attendance were Brian Klugman (screenwriter and director of the Cooper-starring "The Words," and "squintern" on Fox's "Bones" with fellow Philly guy David Boreanaz; he's also the nephew of Jack Klugman); Tyler Kepner (New York Times national baseball writer); Courtney O'Donnell (former director of communications for Jill Biden), who flew in from Germany for the reunion; and Pat FitzGerald and Ron Gonen (co-founders of Recyclebank). Former Villanova star and NBA player Alvin Williams was also part of the class, but my spies tell me he did not attend the reunion.

Veterans Day done right

Here's a sweet story to help you celebrate your Veterans Day: I heard that a Marine stationed in Virginia stopped by Center City's Misconduct Tavern in full regalia after the Marine Corps Birthday Ball at the Doubletree on Saturday. When Councilman Jim Kenney saw the man in uniform at the bar, he secretly picked up the tab for the serviceman and his drinking buddy, who didn't find out until he tried to pay.

Good for you, councilman.

Gere, here, this week

I hear "Franny," the movie starring Richard Gere and Dakota Fanning filming in our fair city, will take up shop at the Hyatt at the Bellevue today and at Blurr (29 S. Bank St.) all day Thursday for a shoot.

OUT AND ABOUT

* The Stratus Lounge (433 Chestnut St.), the rooftop bar atop the Hotel Monaco, celebrated its first birthday on Thursday with some notable names in attendance, including NBC10's John Clark, sportscaster Steve Bucci and 6ABC reporters Nydia Han and Ali Gorman.

* Seattle-based indie folk band The Head and the Heart used their down time during their two-night, sold-out stand at Union Transfer this weekend to get Flyered up. Bassist Chris Zasche asked to go to the game and brought the rest of the band, who dined on Campo's cheesesteaks as they watched the Flyers win, 4-2, over the Oilers. I hear the band members were psyched to hear their song "Shake," from their 2013 album "Let's Be Still," played during the game.

TV time

Kyle Hudson, a waiter from West Chester, will be on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" with host Cedric the Entertainer at 12:30 p.m. today on 6ABC. Hudson auditioned for the show at Dave & Buster's in Franklin Mills.

Shelley and Bob Meyer, who have been married for 33 years, were invited to the Bethenny Frankel-hosted "Bethenny," thinking they were finalists in the Second Chance at a Honeymoon contest. Turns out, they were luckier than Frankel originally let on. Tune in to Fox 29 at 11 a.m. to see how it all turned out.
