Health care workers call for Temple to bargain for hazard pay during the pandemic

Health care workers represented by District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees on Tuesday called for Temple University and Temple University Health to System bargain with the union for hazard pay to compensate the workers for staying on the job during the worst of the COVID-19 outbreak and to pay them fairly during a possible second wave. The union, which represents nurses aids, cleaners, patient transporters, and others, did not disclose specific demand. Temple and its health system employ 2,000 1199C members. — Harold Brubaker
