After living in Horsham for some 30 years and raising a daughter there, Max Steiger and Lisa Zoks thought they’d move to Philadelphia when they became empty nesters.

But they liked their home with its large rooms and were concerned that they’d find city houses too cramped.

“We looked at a lot of properties,” said Zoks, who is in AI marketing for a major bank, before finding a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in 2017, with over 1,900 square feet of living space in the Spring Garden neighborhood.

But Steiger, who was in cybersecurity advertising, died a year ago and Zoks will be renting in the city while she looks for a smaller place.

Their condo, built in 1915, is on four levels tied together by a winding staircase.

The first level has a bedroom with a walk-in closet and full bathroom as well as a laundry room with washer and dryer.

The kitchen, with granite countertops and a large island, and dining room are on the second level. The dining room has a view of the street below.

The primary bedroom is on the third level. It has an en suite bathroom and two large closets. The top level has a living space with an office area.

A roof deck was added in 2019, and has city views, a pergola, and ample space for entertaining.

The unit has hardwood floors, large rooms, and high ceilings.

It is a block from a supermarket and close to public transit, restaurants, nightlife and historic sites including Eastern State Penitentiary and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The unit is listed by Jill Seidman of JMG Pennsylvania for $595,000.
