House of the week: A four-bedroom rowhouse in Bella Vista for $870,000

When Ceil and Jim Tuman mention their Philadelphia property, “a lot of people are taken aback,” Ceil said. “They ask, ‘You have a weekend place in the city?’”
But for the Tumans, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom rowhouse in Bella Vista made perfect sense. They were coming down from their home in Westchester County, N.Y., so often to visit their daughters and spending on hotels.
“I knew it was the perfect place and the perfect location” for a second home, Ceil said. “And we had fallen in love with Philadelphia.”
But soon their Philly-area weekend retreat will move to the suburbs for Ceil, a retired clinical social worker, and Jim, who is in commercial real estate.
The 2,338-square-foot Bella Vista house was built in 2015, and when the Tumans saw it was on the market, they were determined no one else would beat them to it. So they had one of their daughters take a tour and FaceTime them as she went through the home.
They bought it in the fall of 2017 before they saw it themselves.
The home has an open-concept main floor with the living room, dining room, and kitchen, and access to the backyard.
The second floor has a bedroom, large bathroom, and a laundry area with washer and dryer.
The third floor has the primary suite with two large closets and a bathroom. The bedroom has views of the city skyline.
The finished basement has a full bathroom, a media room, and a bonus room that could be used as a workout room or bedroom.
The roof deck has 360-degree views of the city.
The house is within walking distance of Sprouts, the Italian Market, shops on South Street, and public transportation.
