Sixers takeaways: Abysmal shooting and effort that rivals The Process

The 76ers’ effort was trash. Their three-point shooting was abysmal. And the Sixers team that was on the floor Monday and the last few weeks is worse than The Process era squads. Those three things were obvious in the 142-110 loss to the Chicago Bulls at the Wells Fargo Center.

Poor effort

The Sixers (20-37) looked like a noncompetitive, emotionally spent and directionless group against the Bulls (23-35). They were lifeless until the fourth quarter, when fans stopped booing and opted to cheer two-way player David Roddy.

Three-point woes

The Sixers made 10 of 40 three-pointers (25%). Even that was misleading, considering they made 4 of 12 after trailing by 39 points in the fourth quarter. Before that, the Sixers were shooting 6 of 28 from deep.

Paul George and Roddy both went 2-for-7 from deep, while Kelly Oubre Jr. (0-for-3), Guerschon Yabusele (0-for-3) and Ricky Council IV (0-for-3) completely missed the mark from three-point range.

Worse than The Process

Some will call me crazy for saying this team is worse than The Process, especially the 2015-16 squad that finished with a 10-72 record. But my opinion is based on expectations. We knew they would be horrible in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16.

But this season’s team was hyped up as NBA title contenders. Newcomer George along with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey were supposed to be the league’s most-dominant Big Three. Instead, they’ve lost eight straight games and 10 of their last 11. And their last two losses have come to tanking teams, the Bulls and Brooklyn Nets.
