The Cowboys need an Eagles win. But Micah Parsons won’t root for them — even if it costs him the playoffs.

An Eagles win on Sunday keeps the Cowboys’ slim postseason chances alive. Parsons doesn’t care — he’s fed up with Philly fans.

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons made it clear who he’s rooting for in Sunday’s matchup between the Eagles and the Washington Commanders. In fact, the Cowboys star has had enough of his NFC East rival — and its fans.

The Cowboys (6-8) are still alive for a playoff berth and need a few things to happen to remain in the hunt, including the Commanders losing to the Eagles on Sunday. But Parsons, a Harrisburg native and former Penn State linebacker who grew up rooting for the Birds, can no longer bring himself to cheer on Philadelphia.

Even if it means his team officially missing out on the playoffs.

“Nah, at this point, it’s [expletive] Philly, now,” Parsons told reporters on Thursday before smiling. “Even if we got eliminated, like, I got to crush Philly. [Expletive] them. I hate them now ‘cause I be seeing them just talking so much on socials. I don’t know, my Twitter page got consumed by Philly [fans]. Man, ugh. They say don’t look forward to some things, but I’m excited about the matchup [next week], too.”

The matchup Parsons is referring to is his team’s Week 17 game against the Eagles. And right next to the longtime rivalry between the Cowboys and the Eagles is Parsons’ personal (and growing) rivalry with Philadelphia.

Earlier in the season, Parsons and Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson were involved in a social media spat over Gardner-Johnson’s comments on Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints.

Less than a week later, Eagles cornerback Darius Slay stirred up more controversy — appearing on Parsons’ podcast, The Edge With Micah Parsons, to react to Gardner-Johnson’s short-lived pregame trash talk against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Although Parsons isn’t rooting for the Eagles this time around — even if it costs him the playoffs — two years ago, the linebacker cheered on Philadelphia ahead of its Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs and showed love to right tackle Lane Johnson.

“Love you big bro!” Parsons replied to Johnson, who was drafted by the Eagles when Parsons was still a 13-year-old Birds fan. “Keep going! Not many like you! Definitely not playing like you healthy or with a torn groin! Go win a bowl for our division!”

That’s quite a change in tone for Parsons.

Earlier this season, the Birds dominated the Cowboys in a 34-6 win at AT&T Stadium, which was part of a five-game losing streak for Dallas. Next week, the Cowboys will travel to Philly for their second meeting, where at least one player will surely be given a special reception from the home crowd.
