El Techo, a year-round rooftop bar in Rittenhouse, opens
It’s related to Condesa and El Cafe, the side-by-side Mexican bar/restaurant and coffee shop on street level at the Pod Philly hotel.

Things are looking up at the new Pod Philly hotel at 19th and Ludlow Streets, just off Market.
Oct. 23 marks the debut of El Techo, the 11th-floor roof deck/taqueria/bar.
It’s related to Condesa and El Cafe, the side-by-side Mexican bar/restaurant and coffee shop on street level from the owners of Fishtown’s Suraya and Pizzeria Beddia.
For now, El Techo is open for drinks only starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday. Food, in the form of a simple taqueria menu, is on the way.
No worries about “weather permitting” here. This is a year-round operation. The roof is retractable; see video here.
