‘I’m going to be sick’: Empire State Building is shining green for the Eagles — again

The Empire State Building has taken on Eagles’ colors before — but it’s always controversial.

The Empire State Building lit up in green to commemorate the Philadelphia Eagles' NFC Championship win. The move left some New Yorkers angry, but it's actually an annual tradition.

The Empire State Building is green once again. And its account admins likely aren’t thrilled.

“I’m going to be sick,” the account posted along with a photo of the skyscraper donning Eagles’ colors.

It’s the second time in two weeks the building has rocked green and white for the Birds, with the account hilariously apologizing for doing so after the NFC Championship.

The Empire State Building previously dazzled with Eagles’ colors following the team’s 2023 NFC championship victory — and it was controversial with the New York Sanitation Department calling it “unforgivable” and City Councilmember Keith Powers saying it was “absolutely ridiculous.”

Still, fair is fair.

Every year for nearly a decade, the Empire State Building has honored the NFC and AFC championship winners along with the Super Bowl winners. It happened in 2018 when the Birds won that Super Bowl, too. And yes, New Yorkers were big mad about it then, too.

New Yorkers have reason to be particularly salty this year because former New York Giant Saquon Barkley was pivotal in the Eagles’ 2025 Super Bowl-winning season.

“Shining in @Eagles colors for the rest of the evening,” the Empire State Building’s account said Sunday night.

We’re sure New Yorkers will be mad this time, too.
