The best happy hours in Philly right now

More than 25 bars and restaurants for excellent happy hours in Philadelphia.

As the sun sets, there are few things in this world that you can purchase for $5 or less. Cocktails, wine, beer, and food are rarely on that list — that is, except during happy hour. The magical hours, often in the early evening, offer the rare chance to go out with a specific budget in mind and know with confidence that you’ll stick to that budget.

Selected bites and drinks are discounted for after-work crowds and those looking for an inexpensive night out.

How we choose our best lists
What makes something the best? Our recommendations are based on our reporters' deep regional knowledge and advice from local experts. We also strive to represent the geographic and cultural diversity of the city and region. Spot an error or omission? Email us at [email protected]

“What makes Philadelphia so unique for happy hour is the depth and breadth of cuisines you can enjoy,” said Chris Parker-Rajewski, cofounder of Happy Hour Philly. “You can go for a great Thai happy hour at Chatayee Thai in Midtown Village, sushi at QU Japan, Latin American at Mixto, Mexican at Nemi, $2 oysters at Olde Bar.”

And Philly does happy hour better than almost anyone else, he says — in other places, you might only find a taco Tuesday or a $1 off draught beer.

Happy hours exist throughout the city in all neighborhoods and at all types of bars. Here are the best happy hours to check out in Philly right now.
