G'day: Bluestone Lane coffee coming to Philly
Australia-themer is said to be going into the Radisson Blu Warwick Hotel (17th and Locust Streets) and one other Center City location.
The caffeination of Center City continues, and buzz surrounds two deals that will import Bluestone Lane, a New York upstart run by an Australian-born former Wall Streeter.
No one is tallking yet officially, but the future Bluestone Lane locations are said to be the Radisson Blu Warwick Hotel (17th and Locust Streets) and at 1700 Market St.
Bluestone Lane founder Nick Stone told attendees at the recent New York Coffee Festival about the Philly expansion. Bluestone Lane, which opened in mid-2013, has five coffee shops and one larger cafe, all in New York.
The shops, inspired by the coffee scene in Melbourne, serve coffee/espresso (using beans from Melbourne's Niccolo and San Francisco's Sightglass) as well as a light menu including the toasted sandwiches known as jaffles and the sponge cakes known as Lamingtons. The men at work behind the counter will also smile and give you a Vegemite sandwich.
The location at the Warwick is supposed to open in November, a source said. The timeline for 1700 Market has not been disclosed. Emails to Bluestone Lane and its real estate broker seeking comment have not returned.
