Mainland Inn near Lansdale has closed
Owner Sloane Six said gift certificates would be honored at the farm or would be reimbursed as part of the inn's final accounting.
After a little more than two years since reopening after a dramatic renovation, the Mainland Inn in Harleysville near Lansdale, Montgomery County, has closed.
Owner Sloane Six today emailed to say that she was shutting it down immediately to redirect her full energies to running her nearby Quarry Hill Farm.
The 110-acre farm, which operates independently, provided much of the fresh food for the Mainland Inn, whose mission was passionately farm-to-table. Six credits a healthful diet for helping her overcome cancer.
Sloane and family spent more than a year and a half rehabbing the 19th-century inn, which had closed five years before. It reopened in late 2014 and in 2015 won a three-bell review from Inquirer critic Craig LaBan.
"I am so proud of what we have accomplished, bringing an iconic property back to the community fully restored, while providing local food — both nutrient dense and healthy — directly from the farm while continuing to educate our neighbors about eating and living sustainably," Six said, going on to thank staff, including executive chef Max Hosey, for the hard work.
"I'll try to look forward, not backward," Hosey said.
Six said gift certificates would be honored at the farm or would be reimbursed as part of the inn's final accounting.
The inn will be offered for sale, she said.
